The Elan Challenger by Leanord
The Elan Challanger was an IBM-AT clone produced by Leanord in 1986. The Elan team developed its own BIOS and all the electronics for the system. The team started in 1985 with development on the 8088, and then the 80286 processor.
The computer is a standard AT compatible system. The system had a unique feature that allowed the CPU speed to switch between 8.77MHz and a Turbo 12MHz mode by using an external DOS command. The machine was mostly limited to the French market, with the government and the French educational system the main buyers.
Graphics capabilities of the machine varied by the Video Card that the customer bought for the system. It supported CGA, Hercules and a high-color EGA video card.
