Nintendo Pokemon Mini

The Pokémon Mini was a tiny, portable gaming device released by Nintendo in 2001. It was designed specifically for Pokémon fans, and it’s one of the smallest handheld consoles ever made, fitting easily in the palm of your hand.

The device measured just about 74mm x 58mm x 23mm and weighed only 70 grams (including the battery and cartridge). Its small, lightweight design made it super portable and pocket-friendly.

It had a 96 x 64-pixel monochrome LCD screen, which displayed simple, black-and-white graphics. While tiny, the display was clear enough for the simple mini-games it ran. The device featured a D-pad for directional control, a large central A button for primary actions, a smaller B button, and a C button used for various secondary functions.

The Pokémon Mini was powered by a Seiko Epson S1C88 processor with a 4-bit sound system built into the chip, which could only produce basic beeps and tones. The Mini was powered by a single AAA batery, lasting about 60 hours due to the very low power consumption.

The Pokémon Mini’s design was simple and effective, catering specifically to Pokémon fans with a unique selection of mini-games that were easy to pick up and play, making it a memorable piece of Nintendo’s handheld legacy.

The games for Pokémon Mini were cartridge-based, with about 10 different Pokémon-themed mini-games released. Each cartridge was incredibly small, matching the compact size of the device.
